Birmingham City and Barnsley are reportedly interested in signing Ryan Tafazolli from Peterborough United in the January transfer window.
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has suggested on social networking site Twitter that neither Birmingham City nor Barnsley could afford to sign Ryan Tafazolli in the January transfer window.
As reported by HITC Sport earlier in the week, both Birmingham and Barnsley are interested in securing the services of Tafazolli this month.
Both the Championship clubs have been tracking the progress of the 25-year-old defender.
Peterborough chairman MacAnthony has praised the former Southampton prospect, and has suggested on Twitter that neither Southampton nor Barnsley could afford him.


Birmingham are 13th in the Championship table at the moment with 35 points from 25 matches, while Barnsley currently find themselves eighth in the standings with 38 points from 25 games.
The Blues are still in the running for the playoffs, while the Tykes are only four points behind sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Grant McCann’s Peterborough are eighth in the League One table at the moment with 38 points from 24 games, only two points behind sixth-placed Fleetwood Town with a game in hand.
