Sunderland fans still want Marcus Maddison signed up.

Sunderland fans have been clamouring for Peterborough United playmaker Marcus Maddison to join the club for some time – and those hopes may have been raised yet again.
Maddison, 25, was born in Durham and has made a number of references about Sunderland on social media, having grown up supporting the Black Cats.
It’s not just an emotional thing with Maddison though, as he’s also one of League One’s finest players, racking up 22 goals and a staggering 46 assists in all competitions over the last two seasons.
A creative player like that would be ideal for Sunderland, who drew too many games last season, and need a flair player like Maddison to turn those draws into wins.
Intriguingly, Maddison took to Instagram (below) in the early hours of this morning to post a photo on his story, which was of him playing Pro Clubs on FIFA 19 with a friend – and they were playing in Sunderland shirts.
Of course, people put two and two together and assumed he was angling for a move to the Stadium of Light, prompting Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony to offer a response on Twitter.
“No issue,” said MacAnthony. “Everybody knows Marcus likes to be a gob***** time to time. Come match day he will deliver as always gob***** or not,” he added.
The post just happens to come as Sunderland prepare to sell George Honeyman to Hull City, and Sunderland fans are urging the club to sign Maddison as a replacement – but whether that actually happens is another matter.
