The 2018-19 Championship playoffs promise to be very exciting, and there is a sense of unpredictably about them, with Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa and Derby County aiming to win the final promotion spot to the Premier League.

Norwich City and Sheffield United have clinched automatic promotion to the Premier League, leaving Leeds, West Brom, Villa and Derby to fight for the third and final promotion place in the playoffs.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side will take on the Rams in the two-legged Championship playoffs semi-final tie, while the other tie will be between the Baggies and the Villans.

Leeds and West Brom had been pretty much assured of their respective places in the Championship playoffs for most of the season, while Derby secured sixth place in the table only on the final day of the campaign.

It was a late great run that saw Dean Smith’s Villa end up in the top six of the Championship this season, and League One club Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has predicted the Villans to win the playoffs – a prediction that the Villa Park will love to come true.
