Jack Ross’ Sunderland side could only manage to pick up a 1-1 draw with Peterborough United yesterday.

Peterborough United co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has revealed on Twitter that Sunderland informed them of their interest in Marcus Maddison last summer after yesterday’s game.
Posh and Sunderland played out a 1-1 draw on Monday, in a match which ended up damaging both their promotion hopes.
Maddison was selected to start for Peterborough and he caused some threat to Sunderland’s defence throughout the contest.
And MacAnthony has suggested that Sunderland were very interested in snapping up the winger before the season started.
Maddison has been in wonderful form for Peterborough in recent weeks, and could have provided Sunderland with a dynamic attacking option if he had moved to the Stadium of Light.
Maddison now has 10 goals and 21 assists in 42 appearances for Posh across all competitions this season.
Sunderland’s draw with Peterborough yesterday leaves them trailing the top two by four points, with just three games remaining.
