Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has taken to Twitter to mock one Leeds fan’s suggestions of a swap deal involving Jack Marriott and Jay-Roy Grot.
Marriott, 23, joined Peterborough from Luton Town last summer after impressing in League Two, and he took League One by storm with a stunning goal record this season.
The striker hit 27 goals in 44 league games, with a tally of 33 goals in all competitions in what has been a superb campaign for the former Ipswich Town man.
Marriott is now attracting major interest ahead of the summer transfer window after Peterborough missed out on promotion to the Championship, with Leeds United one suggested destination.
Peterborough owner MacAnthony recently stated on Twitter that he would be shocked if he didn’t hear from Leeds about a deal for Marriott, as the Whites search for a new striker.
Leeds fans have been bombarding MacAnthony with questions about Marriott in recent days, and one fan even floated the idea of a swap deal involving Marriott and Leeds flop Jay-Roy Grot.
The 20-year-old Dutch forward hit just one goal for Leeds this season following a move from NEC Nijmegen, and MacAnthony unsurprisingly mocked any suggestions of such a move this summer.
