Darragh MacAnthony has said on Sky Sports News (7:56pm, August 3, 2021) that Leeds United could finish in the top six of the Premier League table this season.

The Peterborough United owner believes that Leeds are the dark horse in the Premier League this campaign.

MacAnthony said on Sky Sports News (7:56pm, August 3, 2021): “Leeds is the dark horse for me, top six this season.”

Leeds United for top six?

Leeds are a massive club and did extremely well in the Premier League last season.

The Whites finished as high as ninth in the table.

It was Leeds’s first season back in the Premier League since 2004.

Could Leeds challenge for the top six this season?

Anything is possible in football, but it is going to be tough.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City will be the favourites for the top four.

You would expect Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, West Ham United and Everton to be fighting for the Champions League and/or the Europa League spots.

Could Leeds do it?

Marcelo Bielsa is one of the best managers around, while the likes of Raphinha, Jack Harrison and Patrick Bamford are among the best players in the Premier League.

Leeds United transfer rumours

Another factor that could play a role in Leeds’s season is potential new signings.

The West Yorkshire club have been linked with a number of players.

TMW are reporting that Leeds could sign striker Matheus Cunha from Hertha Berlin for €25 million (£21.31m).

The Daily Mail have reported that Leeds are interested in Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore, but they have alternate targets.

Leeds are also interested in Brennan Johnson, according to The Athletic, but it is Brentford who are planning to make a bid of £6 million for the Nottingham Forest attacker, claims The Sun.
