Lyle Taylor has been making the news recently, with the striker first linked with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers and then refusing to training with Charlton Athletic.

TEAMtalk reported at the weekend that Rangers manager Gerrard wants to bring Taylor to Ibrox this summer.

Burnley, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Stoke City and Preston North End are also looking into the possibility of signing the 30-year-old striker on a free transfer this summer, according to the report.

The Montserrat striker is out of contract at the Addicks this summer, and he is set to become a free agent.

Taylor has made 17 starts and five substitute appearances in the Championship for Charlton so far this season, scoring 11 goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored, and he would be a good option to have in the Rangers squad alongside Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe.

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer told The Guardian on Monday that Taylor is refusing to train ahead of the return of the Championship later this month.

The striker is out of contract at the Addicks at the end of this month, and he has not trained with the club since last Tuesday, according to The Guardian.

Darragh MacAnthony, chairman of League One club Peterborough United, was asked about his take on Taylor’s situation on Twitter by a Charlton fan, and this is what he had to say.
