Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has taken to Twitter in order to suggest that Tottenham Hotspur want to wait until August before letting Luke McGee leave the club.
McGee, 21, has come up through the ranks with Tottenham, featuring for their youth and reserve teams before heading out on loan to Peterborough United in August 2016.

The goalkeeper initially joined the Posh on a four-month loan deal, but that was extended until the end of the season having impressed at the ABAX Stadium.
McGee played 45 times for Peterborough this past season, and the League One club will no doubt want to bring him back to the club to continue his fine displays during the 2016/17 campaign.

Now, Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has taken to Twitter to discuss the situation, with fans asking him whether McGee would be re-signing this summer.
MacAnthony claims that whilst Peterborough are keen, Tottenham won’t let him leave until August, and the Posh can’t afford to wait that long, meaning a deal currently looks unlikely.

With Pau Lopez returning to Espanyol after the end of his season-long loan spell, McGee could return to Tottenham as Mauricio Pochettino’s third-choice goalkeeper behind Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm.
However, the notion that Spurs want to wait until August before letting McGee go again suggests that Pochettino will either attempt to bring Lopez back to the club again or look for another goalkeeper, with McGee potentially being kept if no incoming deal is struck.
