Meire was hired as Sheffield Wednesday’s chief executive at the start of January.

Peterborough United were in contact with Sheffield Wednesday during the January transfer window, according to Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony.
Asked on Twitter if his side had been in touch with Wednesday, MacAnthony claimed Peterborough’s director of football Barry Fry had spoken to the Owls’ new chief executive Katrien Meire earlier this week.

It remains to be seen, however, which of the two clubs’ players – if any – were discussed.
And the conversation appears to have been in vain, with no Peterborough or Sheffield Wednesday players exchanging sides ahead of the transfer deadline.
Wednesday experienced a quiet final day, with young Owls midfielder Matt Penney the only player to move in or out – the latter, in his case – of Hillsborough.

Peterborough’s Wednesday was slightly more eventful, with striker Omar Bogle arriving on loan from Cardiff City and fringe pair Ricky Miller and Jordan Nicholson moved on.
