Birmingham City and Middlesbrough were both offered the chance to sign Marcus Maddison in the summer.

Darragh MacAnthony has revealed on Twitter that both Birmingham City and Middlesbrough rejected the chance to sign Marcus Maddison in the summer.
With Maddison’s contract at Posh entering its last year, the winger was offered to both Birmingham and Boro.
However, according to MacAnthony, Harry Redknapp, who was then in charge at Birmingham, had no idea who Maddison was, while Garry Monk opted to bring Marvin Johnson to the Riverside Stadium instead.
Both Birmingham and Middlesbrough may feel as if they have missed out on a great signing now, as Maddison has been in wonderful form in League One this term.

Maddison has penned a new contract at Posh, and has been a driving force in Grant McCann’s side’s push for promotion.
The former Newcastle United trainee has claimed 18 assists and nine goals across all competitions.
Maddison is now attracting interest across the Championship ahead of the January transfer window, but Posh are likely to command a big fee for the attacking midfielder.
