Rangers have failed with a move to bring George Edmundson to Ibrox.

Rangers are in the market for defensive reinforcements, but their pursuit of George Edmundson has reportedly stumbled at the first hurdle.
The Gers have seen Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic impress in recent weeks, but two centre backs are needed, with loanee Joe Worrall poised to return to Nottingham Forest and Gareth McAuley’s contract set to end.
Landing a young defender with potential to replace Worrall makes sense, and Oldham talent Edmundson has emerged as a top target for Steven Gerrard’s side.
However, the Daily Mail report that Rangers have failed with a bid for Edmundson, with Oldham now wanting more than the £450,000 asking price they originally set.
It remains to be seen whether Rangers return with an improved offer for the 21-year-old defender, but they may need to be quick, as it’s believed that three other clubs have also failed with bids.

It’s unclear who those clubs are, but as a young, talented Football League player, some have wondered whether Peterborough United are interested in him, especially with Ryan Tafazolli set to move on.
Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony has taken to Twitter to deny any interest in Edmundson though, suggesting that there is no interest in the defender and no challenge to Rangers – but Gerrard’s men still shouldn’t wait around if they’re really set on luring Edmundson to Ibrox.
