Queens Park Rangers paid £3 million to bring Conor Washington to Loftus Road.

Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has admitted he was laughing all the way to the bank when Queens Park Rangers paid big money for Conor Washington.

BBC Sport suggest that QPR paid £3 million to take Washington from Peterborough back in 2016, but the deal never worked out.

The rapid striker failed to score with any regularity for QPR and was eventually released on a free transfer.

And MacAnthony always knew that Posh were getting the better of the deal.

QPR spent big on Washington after he notched 15 goals in 16 games for Peterborough at League One level, but he hasn’t really found his feet in the Championship.

The Northern Irish international has struggled to find the back of the net at both QPR and Sheffield United in recent times.

Washington is set to become a free agent again in the summer, and his next move could be vital for his career, as the rapid forward looks to get back on track.
