The Tottenham Hotspur star has really impressed this season.

Paul Merson answers questions during Gillette Soccer Saturday Live with Jeff Stelling on March 19, 2012 at the Bournemouth International Centre in Bournemouth, England.

Paul Merson offered high words of praise for Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko, when speaking on Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Saturday programme yesterday (Saturday, December 1st), suggesting that the Frenchman is getting better and better.

Sissoko, 29, has been quite simply brilliant for Spurs this season, in what has been quite the dramatic turnaround from his last two years in north London.

The France international joined Tottenham from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £30 million, and he initially struggled to establish himself at the club.

He was labelled as a flop by Spurs fans, as well as fans of other clubs, and he was always one of the first names to be constantly linked with an exit from the club.

That is no longer the case, however, with Sissoko actually being considered as one of Mauricio Pochettino’s most important players.

And Merson offered high words of praise for the 29-year-old, when speaking on Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Saturday programme yesterday:

“All of these fringe players; we always knew that their first team could beat anybody it was just that their squad wasn’t big enough. Dare I say it, Sissoko looks like a player – he’s getting better and better. He’s a strong player running with the ball.”

Tottenham face Arsenal today in the high anticipated North London Derby, and it is a testament to Sissoko that he will be vitally important for his side.

If he plays to his full potential, Spurs have every chance of leaving the Emirates with maximum points to show for their efforts, and who would have thought anyone would be saying that this time last year?
