Martin Keown told Football Focus that the ‘great’ Marcelo Bielsa needs to ‘change’ his man-to-man tactics from set-pieces at Leeds.

The BBC pundit stated ‘dare I question’ Bielsa on such a situation but he admitted that he isn’t a fan of the man-to-man marking system.

Leeds have had their troubles from dead-ball situations this season and it was proven once again on Friday night when they conceded both their goals from corners against West Ham.

Keown shared why he doesn’t like the system in question and how Leeds don’t have enough ‘tall’ players to try and overcome these problems.

“This is this man-to-man marking with Bielsa, he seems almost obsessed with and Leeds have a problem with not enough tall players,” said Keown. “For me, it’s something that needs to change.

“Dare I question the great Bielsa? I’m not a fan of man-to-man marking from set-pieces. I don’t think it gives you the best opportunity to go and win the ball. You become obsessed with your opponent.

“Then he can gain an initiative on you. They need to change it.”

There is no way that Bielsa will change his man-to-man tactics because it’s something he uses during set-piece situations and during open play.

Bielsa did acknowledge that Leeds do have an issue, but with his great coaching mind, he will no doubt train his players in a relentless manner until they get things right.

Leeds will now find that they will be targeted by opposition teams, and in the Premier League, most teams will punish you most of the time compared to the Championship sides.
