Rangers suffered a 1-0 defeat to Vienna on Thursday night.
Dapo Mebude has applauded Rangers fans who braved the below-zero temperatures to travel to Austria and cheer on Steven Gerrard’s men, as they suffered a 1-0 loss to Rapid Vienna.
It is believed more than 10,000 Rangers supporters travelled to Austria, despite the Scottish side only being allocated 2,500 seats inside Vienna’s Allianz Arena.
Temperatures reportedly hit -2 throughout the match, in what was a 2614-mile round trip to the stadium and back. Dejan Ljubicic’s 84th-minute goal saw Vienna qualify, with Rangers being knocked out.
Teenage attacker Mebude, who has been training with the first team of late, was in Vienna after helping Rangers’ Under-20 side come from 2-0 down to beat Vienna’s youth team 4-2. He declared Rangers fans are the “best in the world”.
Still only 17 years of age, Mebude is said to be on the brink of a first-team debut as he continues to impress in Graeme Murty’s side. He will have taken faith from the likes of Glenn Middleton and Serge Atakayi making debuts.
Josh McPake and Andy Dallas both scored a brace as the young Gers came from 2-0 down to earn an excellent win, but it was not to be for the senior side – who will now be focusing on Sunday’s clash against Hamilton at Ibrox.
