Glasgow Rangers defender Danny Wilson has left Ibrox in the final days of the January transfer window.

Wilson has perhaps surprised many by deciding to leave the Gers and move to Colorado this month after proving to be one of the Scottish Premiership side’s better performers in the weeks leading up to his departure.

And after completing his move to America, Wilson outlined why he had made the decision to leave and sent a message to the club and the fans that he leaves behind.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank Rangers, as well as their supporters, for the terrific support they showed during my time with the club,” he told the club’s official website. “But in my discussions with Pádraig [Smith, General Manager] and Coach [Anthony] Hudson, it became clear that the Rapids have a very ambitious vision for the future, and I can’t wait to join the team and start the process of bringing that vision to life.”
While Wilson had been very impressive in the weeks leading up to his departure, the business that the Gers have done during the January transfer window arguably means that his exit may not hurt Graeme Murty’s side too greatly.

January signing Russell Martin has looked impressive alongside David Bates, while the likes of Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso are ready to step into the breach if required.
Rangers’ next game comes in the Scottish Cup as they travel to Fraserburgh on Wednesday, while Colorado kick off the 2018 MLS season at home against Chicago Fire at the start of March, which comes one week before the next Old Firm game.
