Glasgow Rangers defender Danny Wilson is in his second spell at the Gers, having started his career at Ibrox.
Wilson has been on the books of Rangers since the summer of 2015 when he joined from Heart of Midlothian and was then manager Mark Warburton’s first signing.
This is the 26-year-old central defender’s second spell at Ibrox, with the Scotland international having started his professional club football career at Rangers before moving to Liverpool in England in 2013.
The centre-back’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and Wilson has made it clear that he wants to remain at Rangers and is hoping for a new deal.
“I really want to stay at Rangers,” Wilson told The Scottish Sun. “I’m in the last six months of my contract now so something will happen one way or another.
“But I hope it’s to stay at Rangers because I’m never happier than when I’m here playing games. It’s a discussion that will hopefully be had in the near future.”
Wilson struggled to play regularly under Pedro Caixinha, but the former Liverpool and Hearts defender has established himself in the starting lineup under current manager Graeme Murty.
Given the way the 26-year-old is playing at the moment, there is a very good chance that the centre-back will be offered a new contract sooner rather than later.
