Kenny Miller returned to the Glasgow Rangers starting lineup after a frustrating few weeks at Ibrox for the veteran.
Danny Wilson has told Rangers’ official YouTube channel that he was delighted for Kenny Miller after his return to the Gers side for their Scottish Premiership clash with Hearts on Saturday, and praised the way that the veteran has handled the situation involving him and former boss Pedro Caixinha.
The Daily Record reports that Miller was frozen out by the Portuguese after the Light Blues’ defeat in the first Old Firm meeting of the season. And of course, he would not play again for the side until Caixinha’s departure was confirmed earlier this week.
And he marked his return to the team in some style, scoring twice to help Rangers to a 3-1 win at Murrayfield in Graeme Murty’s first game in caretaker charge. And Wilson – who also ended a long run out of the side against Hearts – was full of praise for Miller.
“He’s had a lot thrown at him in the last few weeks and he’s handled himself very well so I’m delighted for him to come back in and do what he does by scoring two goals.”
Miller has certainly emerged from this situation with his reputation enhanced, having seemingly shown little sign of being angered at Caixinha after being frozen out.
And Murty and the next manager – if that is not the current caretaker – will be hoping that the professionalism that Miller showed during the uncertain period inspires the rest of the squad during the coming months.
