Liverpool are sitting top of the Premier League table following their win against Arsenal on Saturday.
Danny Simpson has made it clear that Liverpool won’t win the Premier League title this season, but he did laud manager Jurgen Klopp for what he has done at the club.
The former Manchester United academy product, who won the 2016 Premier League title with Leicester City, thinks the title race this season will be between Manchester City and Liverpool.
More than likely, for the second season running United supporters will have to watch their bitter rivals battle it out for England’s top crown.
Speaking to Goals on Sunday on Sky Sports (25/08/2019 at 11:40 pm), Simpson shared his thoughts on Liverpool and their German manager.
On Liverpool winning the title: “No, no,” Simpson told Goals on Sunday. “Listen, they have been fantastic. What Klopp is doing over those years he’s building that team and starting to win trophies, but I’m a Manchester United fan and Liverpool’s not my team.
“For me, them and Manchester City, it’s going to be them two again. What Klopp is doing is fantastic and it’ll be close again.”
On Saturday evening, Liverpool recorded a comfortable 3-1 win over Arsenal as they cemented their place at the top of the Premier League table.
Current champions Manchester City will travel to the South Coast to take on Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon knowing three points will move them closer to their rivals.
But at this stage of the season, it is still very much early doors, but Liverpool’s 100% record and recent Super Cup triumph will give them a boost.
