Danny Silva believes he should have taken home a $100,000 bonus for his recent performance.
There has been plenty of discussion about fighter pay since Conor Benn signed with Zuffa Boxing and comparisons began to UFC fighters’ earnings.
While the leading MMA promotion has changed some aspects of its pay structure, it still uses show/win bonus contracts, which Jake Paul’s upcoming event is deviating from.
One of the most impressive performances of last month culminated with a fighter speaking completely honestly on the mic, which he believes might have backfired on him.

Danny Silva thinks the interview in London backfired after a pay comment
Earlier this year, Dana White announced that the standard Performance and Fight of the Night bonuses would be increased from $50,000 to $100,000.
Silva felt his upset win over Kurtis Campbell in London was enough to earn one of those bonuses.
He used his post-fight interview to speak openly about his financial situation, and later said he thinks it may have influenced the promotion’s decision not to reward him.
“I mean, I think it might have been the fact that I said I was broke,” he told MMA Junkie. “I think it’s a trending topic right now with the UFC and the pay stuff so I don’t know, maybe they didn’t like what I said. But, I’m in my first contract so we’re not going to be making a lot. Camps are expensive so I didn’t feel like I was saying anything that wasn’t true. I was saying the real stuff.”
The Performance of the Night bonuses were awarded to Shanelle Dyer and Iwo Baraniewski for their knockouts at the O2 Arena.
While Silva didn’t get one of those awards, he did pick up a $25,000 bonus for scoring a finish – part of a new incentive brought in earlier this year.
The 29-year-old is now 3-1 in the UFC after bouncing back from a loss to highly-touted contender Kevin Vallejos.
