Leeds United could be expecting a cash windfall in 2018, with Manchester United hoping to prise Danny Rose away from Tottenham Hotspur according to the Daily Mail.

Whether it’s in January or next summer, Rose is expected to leave Tottenham, and that would be a bonus for Leeds, who sold the England international to Spurs back in 2007.

As reported by Leeds Live, have a 10% sell-on clause relating to the profit made by Spurs, and with a £50million deal mentioned, that would hand Leeds almost £5million after selling him for £1million as a teenager.

That would be a financial boost for Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen, and would also give Leeds the chance to resolve their biggest problem position – ironically, the same position Rose plays in; left back.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has failed to make an impression since arriving from Manchester United, and that has forced Christiansen to use the likes of Vurnon Anita and Gaetano Berardi at left back this term.

In 2018, Leeds must find a left back to perform regularly, especially having received £5million from Burnley for left back Charlie Taylor (Daily Mail) earlier this year, but didn’t purchase a left back to replace him.

Some of that money went towards the likes of Ezgjan Alioski and Samu Saiz, but with almost £10million received from former Leeds left backs, it’s now time for the Whites to invest in their left back of the future.
