Danny Rose’s growth into becoming one of the best left backs in the country has been fantastic.
From the moment now 26-year-old Danny Rose scored that thunderbolt against Arsenal on his league debut, the defender was tipped for greatness. He was seen as a massive England prospect on the back of that goal, which is understandable given the class and importance that the moment itself held.
Tottenham fans celebrate after the game
However, after a few years of not really living up to his potential Rose was shipped off to play for Sunderland on loan. Upon returning to White Hart Lane, fans were upset that Rose was still being given the starting position given that they had just signed Ben Davies.
It appeared as if Rose’s time at Spurs would not be as successful as many had originally hoped, but then in came Mauricio Pochettino. Under the Argentine, Rose has gone on to become a fully-fledged member of the Tottenham squad and consistently puts in impressive performances week in and week out.
In particular, as a converted winger, his defending and positioning have come on leaps and bounds under the former Southampton manager.
Tottenham’s Danny Rose
His determination and ability to read the game have been singled out as two of the major reasons for the defender’s success in recent years. In a team that allows Rose to surround himself with strong, young English talent it’s no wonder that he has gone from strength to strength. Who knows, perhaps he could even end up reaching Ashley Cole levels of quality.
