Danny Rose raves about Tottenham Hotspur teammate Christian Eriksen

Spurs star Eriksen scored the winner for Mauricio Pochettino’s side against Brighton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose has praised several of his teammates following the team’s 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

In particular, Christian Eriksen – who scored the winning goal – was described by his teammate as “among the best in Europe” for assists, but Rose also name-dropped Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura for their efforts.

The Seagulls were on course to gain a point at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their battle to avoid relegation, only for Eriksen to rifle home a superb goal from 25 yards in the 88th minute.

Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld had earlier hit the post while Moura and Dele Alli both had efforts cleared off the goalline, the hosts weighing in with 29 shots, but just five on target (BBC Sport).

In addition, Tottenham attempted 21 shots from outside the box, the most by a team in a Premier League game since Liverpool also registered 21 against Chelsea in April 2014.

“We know in these sorts of games we’re going to have a lot of the ball and this is when you depend on your creative players like Christian, Sonny and Lucas,” Rose told the official Spurs website. “Thankfully, Christian has got a habit of scoring late goals this season and that’s another one that we’re grateful for. These are going to prove vital come the end of the season.

“It’s the tightest top four race that I can ever remember – Christian, Sonny and other players have scored some late goals for us. They’ve all had to chip in with Harry Kane being injured. For Sonny, I think it’s the third season in a row he’s got near the 20-goal mark for us and Christian with his assists… he’s always up there among the best in Europe, not just the league.”

Eriksen has made 45 appearances in all competitions for Spurs this season, scoring eight goals and registering 17 assists, but his contract is up at the end of next season (Transfermarkt) and he is yet to pen new terms.
