Danny Rose has claimed that Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United is the ‘obvious’ destination for Harry Kane, not Champions League-chasing duo Liverpool or Chelsea.

The former Tottenham left-back added that, if the under-fire Antonio Conte can’t guide the club to a top-four finish this season, then there is every chance their star striker heads for the exit door in the summer.

For Manchester United, they are comfortably sitting in third place, so they should secure Champions League football for next season, added to their League Cup success this term.

It might just be the case of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool dumping out the north London outfit to secure that fourth spot – they are three points behind Spurs in the Premier League table with a game in hand.

As for Graham Potter’s recently rejuvenated Chelsea, their best route is probably winning the Champions League again because they are 11 points adrift of a return to Europe’s elite.

Either way, all these three teams have won trophies of late, something Kane is missing, with Rose speaking about his former teammate’s future and that previously failed move to Manchester City, as he told Sky Sports News (08/03/23).

“The million dollar question everyone is waiting to see is ‘will Harry (Kane) be there?’ asked Rose. “If they aren’t in the top four. Will it affect their decision-making? For me, the top four is very, very important for Tottenham this season.

On whether he thinks Kane will stay: “I don’t know. The last time I spoke to Harry in depth about anything like that was when the Manchester City move collapsed. The conversation was private. But, honestly, I really don’t know.

“I wouldn’t like to see him move abroad, that’s one thing for sure. I think it is the obvious one (a move to Manchester United) because he can’t go to Chelsea. Of course, Manchester City are set with who they have got. And I can’t see Liverpool being one for him, so yes, Manchester United is the only obvious one, at the top of my head.

“That would be something for Harry to decide at the end of the season. Where they finish, who is going to be the manager and how they finish the season will all be contributing factors to his decision.”

WHAT WILL BE KANE’S TRANSFER PRICE?

At 29, with 12 months left on his Spurs contract, it’s going to be interesting to see how far the elite teams will push the boat out for Kane.

Previously, former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has spoken about how Daniel Levy possibly wanting ‘£100 million’ for the England captain is ‘a lot of money’.

A lot of money or not, after Spurs were dumped out of the Champions League, it’s pretty obvious what Kane needs to do in the summer, it’s just a question of whether he has left it too late because surely he hasn’t.
