The Tottenham Hotspur left-back deserves far more credit for his superb performances and passion.
Of all the Tottenham Hotspur players that have excelled under manager Mauricio Pochettino, Danny Rose is surely near the top of the list.
The left-back has gone from much maligned to universally praised in the last 18 or so months and his showing against Manchester City suggested he could be in line to ultimately take the captain’s armband at White Hart Lane.
Widely believed to be the best left-back in the country right now, Rose has everything in his game – and his mentality – to skipper Tottenham week in, week out.
That job currently belongs to Hugo Lloris, but the French stopper will not be around forever and at 26, Rose has plenty of time to take on the role himself.
The England international is a composed fighter; a player who showed against City – and on numerous other occasions this season and last – that he can control himself in the fiercest of battles while influencing those around him with his work rate, passion and blossoming talent.
He may not generate the headlines that many of his more famous teammates do, but Rose is Tottenham’s future just as much, and it will be a bright one in his hands.
