Danny Rose says former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is ‘so underrated’ after he helped AC Milan knock Tottenham Hotspur out of the Champions League.

After repping the colours of both Arsenal and Chelsa during his career, it would have been a sweet moment for the 36-year-old.

With a World Cup winners medal around his neck and several league titles, including the Serie A title last season, it’s no surprise that his peers value him so highly.

The north London derby is deemed one of the fiercest in English football and Giroud tasted many in the colours of Arsenal, as well as the battles between Chelsea and Tottenham.

On many occasions, a certain Danny Rose, who is now a free agent after leaving Watford last season, would have been on the other side.

And the former England left-back spoke highly about the France international and how he is a ‘big fan’ of the quick-thinking striker, as he told Sky Sports News (08/03/23).

“For me, Giroud is so underrated as a number nine,” said Rose. “He is a handful. I am 5 foot 8 and he is a lot taller than me.

“But, for me, as a football fan, I think he is so underrated and I am a big fan of him.”

AMAZING CAREER FOR GIROUD

There’s no doubt that Giroud deserves his flowers for the remarkable career he has had, especially after Arsenal sold the striker for £18 million to Chelsea in January 2018 (Telegraph).

From securing football’s biggest ever trophy – the World Cup – to winning the best domestic prize on offer – the Champions League.

Those two will go down as two of Giroud’s greatest-ever achievements.

But one achievement that the multiple-title winner will cherish until the day it is broken is being the top goalscorer for France and recently securing that record that was held by Thierry Henry.
