Defender Danny Rose has told The Mail that their own manager has already warned they won’t be able stop him.
Mauricio Pochettino knows all about his compatriot, and does not want his players to be nervous against Messi, instead to enjoy the experience.
Rose said: “The manager has said there is nothing you can do to stop Messi.
“He won’t want us to go out there being scared of him. It’s an experience we should all want to enjoy.”
It will be an experience Tottenham’s players enjoy if they get a result, with Rose adding that the team are absolutely determined to beat the Spanish champions.
“It’s a massive game. We have to win.”
Tottenham lost their first Champions League group game against Inter Milan and a loss against Barcelona would be hugely damaging to their chances of qualifying from the group.
Rose is hoping to get the nod ahead of Ben Davies for Wednesday’s game at Wembley.
