Tottenham Hotspur are fifth in the Premier League table.

Danny Rose has admitted to reporters, via ESPN, that Dele Alli and his Tottenham Hotspur team-mates haven’t looked as impressive as they were last season.

Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League and it seems like the best they can hope to achieve this season in another Champions League qualification spot.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are fifth in the table, only three points behind fourth-placed Manchester City but 10 adrift of Chelsea at the summit.

Alli, in particular, is appearing to struggle with the standard he set last term, netting three goals and grabbing one assist in 15 Premier League matches after scoring 10 and setting up nine during the 2015-16 campaign.

And although Rose admits that the 20-year-old is not yet playing his best football, the left-back says that is very much the case for a number of Tottenham lads.

“It’s his second season,” he said to reporters, via ESPN. “Nobody is giving him as much time as he had last season but Dele is still our most dangerous player.

“He’s not doing as well as last season, but neither is anyone else. He’s working under the best manager and the manager will get the best out of him.”

That being said, Tottenham have 30 points after 16 league matches – four more than they had at the same stage last season so there is a bit of progress.

Perhaps the standard has drastically improved this term to make it seem otherwise.
