Danny Rose comments on Mauricio Pochettino decision

Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose missed the last 20 minutes of Wednesday’s win.

Danny Rose has admitted to Sky Sports that he was unhappy with Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to withdraw him in Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League win over APOEL Nicosia on Wednesday.

An eye injury saw Pochettino swap Rose for Kyle Walker-Peters in a move which visibly frustrated the left-back.

The 28-year-old has only started five games for Tottenham following an eight-month long absence from injury for much of the calendar year.

And Rose admits that although he respects Pochettino’s decision, it did disappoint him.

“I wasn’t happy but I could tell from the manager’s reaction that I had to come off,” he told Sky Sports.

“He said straight away: ‘you’re coming off’, and I was disappointed but it’s probably the right decision and hopefully I can recover now and be part of the squad on the weekend.”

Spurs, without a win in four Premier League games, look to get back to winning ways on Saturday by hosting Stoke at Wembley.

Their win over APOEL, achieved by goals from Fernando Llorente, Son Heung-min and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, saw them maintain their stunning Champions League form but it has been a different story domestically as of late and Pochettino needs to put it right as soon as possible.
