Danny Rose has been commenting on how he first struggled to settle in at current club Tottenham Hotspur after moving from Leeds United as a teenager, during an interview with the official Tottenham Hotspur website.

The England international left-back recently signed a new deal to remain at Spurs until 2021. The 26-year-old first headed to the capital from Leeds United in 2007.

That came after the Doncaster born lad had spent two years at Thorp Arch and was named on the bench for a fixture with Barnet back in September 2006 – however he never played for the Leeds first-team.

Speaking about his initial move he admitted he struggled to adapt to life away from Yorkshire, but that he is now settled in London and believes he is growing into a bona fide southerner:

“I’m settled here. I’m slowly turning into a southerner! I’ll be here until I’m 31 and at the moment, I couldn’t wish for anything more than to play for Spurs for the rest of my career.

“It was hard when I first moved down to Essex and Tottenham, I was going home every chance I could.

“I wasn’t playing regularly and it’s only been the last three or four years where I’ve felt more settled, more part of the Club and part of the team and I’m loads happier.

“I’m settled, I love living down south and funnily enough, when I get the chance to go back home to Doncaster, I don’t go back too much now. I would never have thought that when I first moved down here.”

Rose has excelled in recent years and is now the current number one choice for the left-back spot for England. Hence, why Spurs have offered him such a long-term contract extension.

Leeds are getting used to seeing their bright and talented leave the club and Rose is just one on a long list.
