Tottenham Hotspur lost the Champions League final at the weekend.
Tottenham went down 2-0 to Premier League rivals Liverpool in the final of Europe’s premier club competition in Madrid this past Saturday evening.
Following the defeat, Spurs goalkeeper Lloris said that Spurs are not the type of club to challenge for the Champions League title season after season, as quoted in Goal.com.
The France international, though, did outline the improvement the North London outfit have made in recent years, and he also made it clear that Spurs are ambitious.
Some Tottenham fans were not happy with Lloris’s comments and criticised him on Twitter, as reported on HITC Sport.
Former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Murphy has given his take on Lloris’s comments.
Murphy said on the Jim White show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (10:25am, June 3, 2019): “He was actually remarkably honest because they are not really expected to be in the semi-finals or final of the Champions League or pushing for the title season in season out. They are not there yet.”
Tottenham finished in the top four of the Premier League this season and will feature in the group stage of the 2019-20 Champions League campaign.
