During the summer of 2021, with Harry Kane a transfer target for Manchester City – Danny Murphy urged Tottenham to consider Tammy Abraham and now, reports from CalcioMercato claim Spurs are now interested in the AS Roma striker.
Abraham, 25, joined Roma in the summer of 2021. Having impressed at Chelsea but without ever nailing down a starting spot on a regular basis, he instantly sparkled at Roma. Last term, the England star scored 27 goals in 53 games.
This season, his form has dipped. Just two goals in 14 games, after Jose Mourinho brought in Paulo Dybala and Andrea Belotti. The Mail wrote in the summer that Abraham is rated at a huge £100million – and Roma will want to keep him.
CalcioMercato claim Tottenham are considering a move, if Harry Kane departs. They are not alone, with Manchester United also interested. Back in 2021, ex-Tottenham midfielder Murphy urged Spurs to sign Abraham, to replace Kane.
“Before we were talking about Tammy Abraham and what a signing he’d be for someone like Tottenham. If Kane is going to go… Tammy is a goalscorer,” Murphy said a year ago, with Kane eyed by City – while on TalkSPORT.

Murphy urged Tottenham to consider Abraham; Spurs now interested
No-one wants Kane to leave Tottenham, if you are of a Tottenham persuasion. With a contract until 2024, though, Kane’s future is in doubt. But where could he genuinely go? Real Madrid need to replace veteran Karim Benzema.
Bayern Munich are interested. But does Kane want to leave England when the chance of toppling Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record is so close. Could he join another English side? Arsenal is out of the question.
Manchester City have Erling Haaland, Liverpool have splashed £85million on Darwin Nunez. Chelsea could do with a striker and that has legs, but would he really leave Spurs for Chelsea? Manchester United are on a par.
So, ultimately, if Kane does want to leave Tottenham, he would have to go abroad. But that ruins his chances of eclipsing Shearer’s record. It is decision time for Kane – and Spurs are planning for his exit, with Abraham.
