Danny Murphy has shared on talkSPORT what he has been told about Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri in training.
The former Liverpool star has claimed that the 29-year-old Switzerland international has looked sharp in training.
The BBC Sport and talkSPORT pundit has added that he expects the former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan winger to make more of an impact this season.
Murphy said on talkSPORT: “I think Jota coming in has helped massively, and I’ve spoken to a couple of people who have all said Shaqiri looks really sharp, he got a little knock on international duty but I’m expecting him to have more of an impact this season.”
Important squad player for Liverpool
Shaqiri has been on the books of Liverpool since the summer of 2018 when he joined from Stoke City.
The winger is essentially a squad player, but he is an important member of the unit and is expected to make an impact as the season progresses.
According to WhoScored, the Switzerland international has played 51 minutes in the Premier League and 121 minutes in the Europa League for Liverpool so far this season.
During the 2019-20 campaign, the winger made two starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League and played three minutes in the Champions League for the Reds, according to WhoScored.
Liverpool are aiming to win the Premier League title again this season and also clinch the Champions League, and the winger will get valuable playing time as manager Klopp will rotate his squad.
