Marko Arnautovic joined West Ham United from Stoke City in the summer transfer window.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has suggested in The London Evening Standard that Marko Arnautovic should be playing for a club bigger than West Ham United.

West Ham have signed Arnautovic from Premier League rivals Stoke City in the summer transfer window.

According to BBC Sport, the Hammers had to pay the Potters a transfer fee of £20 million which could rise to £25m.

Former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Murphy has shared his opinion on the 28-year-old, who can operate as a forward or as a winger.

The former England international has suggested that Arnautovic should be playing for a club bigger than West Ham based on natural ability alone.

“It will be interesting to see how Marko Arnautovic goes, too,” Murphy wrote in The London Evening Standard before the weekend’s game between Manchester United and West Ham at Old Trafford. “Based on ability alone, he should be playing for a bigger club but too often he flatters to deceive.”

Arnautovic scored six goals and provided five assists in 32 Premier League appearances for Stoke last season.

During the 2015-16 campaign, the former Werder Bremen attacker scored scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 34 league matches for the Potters.

West Ham kicked off their 2017-18 Premier League campaign with a 4-0 defeat to Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford at the weekend.
