Danny Murphy has given his take on talkSPORT on reported Everton managerial target David Moyes about to sign a new contract with West Ham United.

The Telegraph has claimed that Moyes will sign a three-year contract with West Ham.

This will come as a blow to Everton.

The Athletic has reported that the Toffees have Moyes on their shortlist.

Murphy said on talkSPORT: “I think it is a very well-deserved contract.”

The former Liverpool midfielder added: “It makes sense to give him the contract, keeps continuity, seems to have the players on board.”

Sensible move

Moyes has been superb for West Ham.

The Hammers played good football this past season, and, perhaps more importantly, they will feature in the Europa League in 2021-22.

Moyes was brilliant when he was in charge of Everton.

The Scotsman would be – or would have been – a brilliant managerial appointment for the Toffees.

The former Manchester United boss knows the Toffees inside out and has a strong reputation among the fans.

However, having guided West Ham to the Europa League, Moyes will surely want to manage the Hammers in the European competition.

West Ham are a big and ambitious club, and Moyes has built a strong team which he will surely want to take forward.

As for Everton, the Toffees will now have to look elsewhere for a new manager.
