Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen could be on the move this summer.
Danny Murphy has questioned where Christian Eriksen would play in Real Madrid’s team as the wantaway Tottenham Hotspur star expresses a desire to ‘try something new’.
As reported by Sky Sports, after Tottenham’s Champions League final defeat, Eriksen admitted that he is open to new challenges as his future at the North London club came into focus.
The Independent recently claimed that Denmark international Eriksen is a top priority for La Liga giants Real Madrid, who has a year left on his current deal.
Speaking to Jim White on TalkSport (10/06/2019 at 10:15 am), former Premier League midfielder Murphy shared his thoughts on Eriksen’s future and those Madrid links.
“I don’t think they [Real Madrid] will be signing anyone better than Hazard,” Murphy told TalkSport. “I think he’s their main signing. They’re not going to get better than him.
“What’s he going to cost you Eriksen with a year left? The only way it might happen is they [Madrid] might get him reasonably cheap compared with some other options. But where is he going to play? When you look at that Real Madrid team, depending on who they get out of the door, you then have to look is he going to play?”
Eriksen has been a key member of Mauricio Pochettino’s set-up ever since he walked through the White Hart Lane doors from Southampton in 2014.
Losing a player of the Danes quality would be a massive blow to the club, but on the upside, the North London outfit would have money to spend in the transfer market and they could use that to better themselves in other areas.
Eriksen, who earns a reported £75k-a-week [Spotrac] at Tottenham, started the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool, but he wasn’t able to stamp his authority on the game.
