Newcastle United’s Jonjo Shelvey has been omitted from the first XI for their last two games.

Danny Murphy has said on BBC Radio 5 Live, broadcast on December 3, that Jonjo Shelvey will “get the hump” with Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez eventually.
The 25-year-old was again overlooked by Benitez in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Chelsea and only earned a 15-minute cameo.
The Spanish manager also kept him on the bench for the 2-2 draw at West Brom in midweek.

Shelvey was an ever-present figure for the Magpies prior to that, starting their last six Premier League games, and Murphy can’t quite understand why Benitez has suddenly dropped him.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “It won’t be long before Jonjo Shelvey gets the hump. If he can’t get in this Newcastle team, I’m watching different football. I really am.

“Have you got enough match winners in the side for Newcastle? You’ve got one on the bench.”
Mo Diame started ahead of him at Stamford Bridge and surely another shoddy performance from the Senegal international means that Benitez would be destroyed by Newcastle fans if he doesn’t replace him with Shelvey for Saturday’s visit of Leicester City.
The former Liverpool midfielder can certainly be a big asset for United and the sooner Benitez remembers that, the better.
