Liverpool have taken the Premier League title race to the final day of the season.
BBC Sport pundit Danny Murphy has suggested that Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold shouldn’t be playing in his natural position because he is too good to be playing in that area of the pitch.
The right-back was in action for his side during their 3-2 win against Newcastle United on Saturday evening and he played a key part in his Premier League title-chasing team picking up all three points.
Despite playing for the club last season, this has been the breakthrough and standout year for TAA because he has been given regular game time, not forgetting he has proven his worth to boot.
Speaking to Match of the Day on BBC One (04/05/2019 at 10:45 pm), Murphy spoke about Alexander-Arnold’s amazing talent on the ball.
“What he does when he plays is give tremendous quality, crossing the ball and passing the ball,” Murphy told Match of the Day. “Super ball in for Virgil van Dijk’s goal.
“He’s not a fullback, is he? [In regards to his passing ability]. You don’t have fullbacks who are able to do that. He’s a wonderful player – His first-half performance was sensational.”
At this moment in time, Liverpool are sitting top of the Premier League table, two points ahead of Manchester City, who can go above them on Monday night.
Pep Guardiola and his players will host Leicester City on home soil on Monday and they will be fully aware that dropped points will prove to be costly in their quest to win the title.
After that, their attention will turn to Champions League matters and trying to overturn a three-goal deficit against Barcelona at Anfield.
