The Liverpool midfielder was impressive in the win over Sunderland.
Speaking on Match of the Day, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has praised Jordan Henderson, saying the Liverpool captain is thriving this season.
Henderson has found himself playing a new role this year, with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp opting to use him as more of a deep lying option in a midfield three.
It has been a switch that has been highly effective thus far, with Henderson playing a key role in the Reds’ current challenge for the title.

His form has not gone unnoticed, with fans and pundits alike both praising the way he is playing this season.
Henderson was in top form again on Saturday as he helped his side to beat his former team Sunderland and Murphy was full of praise for him afterwards.
“He’s changed his role this season,” Murphy explained on Match of the Day.
“He used to love running forward, but now he’s the one who protects. He gives this midfield terrific athleticism and his passing is getting better all the time.
“He was probably the best Liverpool player on the pitch. [against Sunderland]. With the amount of creative players Liverpool have going forward, he must do this job well and he’s really thriving.”

Liverpool will certainly be hoping that Henderson can continue his fine form for the remainder of the campaign.
He has certainly impressed so far and helped the Reds up to second in the table, just a point behind league leaders Chelsea.
With this title race looking likely to be an extremely close one, Liverpool will need players such as him to maintain their high performance levels for as long as possible.
