Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy has been speaking about the performance of Vincent Janssen against Leicester City yesterday.
The Dutchman scored his first goal in the Premier League in the game. It was his third goal for the club overall, with all three of the goals coming from the penalty spot.
He also won the penalty against the Foxes, with won being the operative word.
The Dutchman went down easily under a challenge from Leicester defender Robert Huth. Murphy, speaking on Match of the Day yesterday evening, had this to say about the incident, criticising Janssen for going down easy but praising him for dusting himself off and scoring from 12 yards:

“He puts his hand on his shoulder Huth but Janssen goes down too easily for me. That’s never a penalty. I say he’s conned the ref, that’s probably a bit harsh, but he’s done what a lot of strikers do and made the most of a little arm on the shoulder.
“But fair play to him. He got up, had the confidence even though he hasn’t scored in the Premier League and smashed it down the middle. Hopefully that’s the springboard.”
The Spurs striker is certainly proving himself lethal from the penalty spot but is still struggling to find the back of the net from open play.
It is these struggles that have seen him compared to former Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado.
Janssen now has two goals in his last two games and that can hopefully act as something of a springboard to increasing his potency.
The Tottenham striker will hope to put the issue to bed as soon as possible.
