Danny Murphy makes transfer claim about ‘world-beater’ linked with Everton

Danny Murphy has claimed that Wilfried Zaha has now ‘missed the boat’ to leave Crystal Palace amid links with Everton, as he told talkSPORT (14/09/20 at 11:40 pm).

The Guardian claimed earlier on in the summer that Zaha will be looking to leave Selhurst Park, with the Sun linking his name with Everton.

Zaha scored for Crystal Palace over the weekend when he netted the only goal of the game as Roy Hodgson’s men recorded all three points against Southampton.

Murphy shared how Zaha has the capabilities of being a ‘world beater’ on his day, but he suggested that he’s not producing the numbers which would persuade the bigger sides to put serious money on the table for his talents.

“I think Zaha is generally someone who is hot and cold,” Murphy told talkSPORT. “He can look like a world-beater some weeks and then be a little bit inconspicuous the other.

“He has conducted himself well. He has played a lot of games considering he wants away. He always gives it his all. I don’t think he’s particularly conscious about the window. Look there’s no exact science of getting somebody who wants to leave out of the door and he should be playing at a better level.

“His numbers aren’t up there with other players who are of similar value when you look at the likes of Ziyech or Werner, who Chelsea took because they were linked with Zaha.

“Although I like Zaha, and he would do better in a better team, I think that’s obvious. I think he’s missed the boat. I think Palace missed a trick in not letting him go last summer, but I understand why.”

Everton have been busy this summer and they have shown once again that they have the money to bring in the players they want.

It’s now just a case of whether they are willing to push for Zaha because they could do with someone of his qualities out wide.

The likes of Bernard, Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi have failed to produce the goods, so more quality is needed in that area.

But could Zaha’s form from now until the window slams shut on October 5 perhaps persuade a team to push the button and sign him? All will be revealed during these coming weeks.
