Sanchez joined Tottenham last summer from Dutch giants Ajax.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy has claimed in his London Evening Standard column that Spurs already boast Toby Alderweireld’s replacement – Davinson Sanchez.
The 21-year-old defender has been used much more than Mauricio Pochettino may have planned at the start of the season, with Alderweireld’s game time marginalised as the Belgian will not sign a new deal on Daniel Levy’s terms.
It has seen Colombia international Sanchez – who joined the club last summer from Dutch giants Ajax – partner Jan Vertonghen at the back for the majority of the season.

He has impressed, so much so that former Spurs star Murphy picked Sanchez as the London newcomer of the season. He reckons that Sanchez is a decent enough replacement for Alderweireld – with many years left to grow.
“Toby Alderweireld has been the best centre-back for the previous two seasons but when he has been injured this term, Tottenham have missed him far less than I expected they would,” Murphy said.
“Davinson Sanchez should take great credit for that, as this was his first season in English football, and he has made a very good impression. There is plenty more to come from him.
“Technically, he is still a bit raw, and he does not have the passing ability of Alderweireld, but he is powerful and spots danger. He was a shrewd piece of business. He and Jan Vertonghen have been one of the best pairings in the country.”

Sanchez has made a whopping 40 league and cup appearances for Spurs in his first season at the club, helping the north Londoners amass an impressive 17 clean sheets.
It remains to be seen if he will start against Leicester City on Sunday, with Pochettino perhaps tempted to rotate his squad with Champions League qualification already assured.
