The former Spurs midfielder does not believe his old club have signed any players this window who will improve the quality of the starting XI.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy has told BBC Radio 5 Live that he would be disappointed with the club’s summer transfer activity if he were a Spurs fan as he does not feel the starting XI has been improved.
Spurs have signed three players during the transfer window, with central midfielder Victor Wanyama and striker Vincent Janssen being joined on deadline day by winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou.
Wanyama and Janssen have impressed during the early-season matches for Spurs. Wanyama has started the first three Premier League games of the season, scoring the winner against Crystal Palace, whilst Janssen has a start and two substitute appearances to his name.

However, the Dutchman remains behind last season’s golden boot winner Harry Kane in the pecking order, whilst Wanyama’s route into the XI has been made easier by Mousa Dembele’s absence.
Murphy, who spent a season-and-a-half at Spurs a decade ago, is highly dubious that either Wanyama or Janssen will be in the team when everyone is fit and available, and is also sceptical about the impact N’Koudou will make.
The 39-year-old said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “If I was a Spurs supporter I’d be really disappointed. Who has Tottenham signed who, when everyone’s fit, is going to play and make them better?

“If you’re not going to sign six, which I get because you want to keep the team spirit, then sign two who are going to come in and make you better. Is Dier and Dembele a better partnership than Wanyama and either of those two? I would argue yes, I’d rather have Dier and Dembele and Wanyama sitting on the bench.
“Janssen is yet to be proven but I’m not convinced by what I’ve already seen that he’s going to play every week and displace Kane as a nine. The winger, N’Koudou, might set the world alight and prove me wrong, but I doubt it.”
Murphy’s words will be controversial in the eyes of many Spurs fans but may ring true with others, who were likely hoping for a blockbuster major signing to announce their intent to challenge on both domestic and European fronts this season.
