He believes Mauricio Pochettino wants to show faith with his current crop.

One set of fans who have not been expecting much on transfer deadline day have been those at Tottenham Hotspur.

Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear that he had no intention to bring in any players from day one and that has proved to be the case.

This was despite the belief among many fans and pundits that Spurs need to bring in a new striker.

Vincent Janssen has struggled to have an impact at Spurs and Harry Kane is their only other in-form out and out striker.

But Pochettino has decided to stick by him and the rest of the squad. This is not to the surprise of one former Spurs player.

Danny Murphy spent one season at Tottenham and told BBC Radio 5 Live today:

“No because Pochettino seems very loyal.

“He likes to work with players and develop them. He paid £30m for Sissoko who he needs to improve and will want to get more out of him.

“If Spurs were to bring in a striker they are effectively saying ‘Vincent Janssen you are done’ and I don’t think Pochettino would do that.”

Spurs certainly could have made some singings this winter. They would have the money available to them and a striker is certainly something they need to bring in.

But Pochettino has continued to stand by his players recently and is clearly happy to have some faith in the misfiring Dutch striker to come good at White Hart Lane.
