Sunderland were beaten 1-0 by West Ham United yesterday.

Danny Murphy has told Match of the Day, which was broadcast on BBC1 on October 22nd, that he disagrees with Sunderland boss David Moyes’ complaints that West Ham United’s winner was offside.
Moyes was left aggravated after the match, as he felt that West Ham’s last minute goal should have been ruled out for offside.
However, Murphy feels that Moyes’ complaints were unjustified, as Jack Rodwell was playing West Ham’s attackers onside.

“The lad who is in front of the goalkeeper is in line with Rodwell,” Murphy said, when analysing Winston Reid’s late strike. “It’s tight, but it’s certainly not a bad decision. I actually think the referee’s assistant does well.”
Moyes’ frustrations after Sunderland’s latest defeat were perfectly understandable, as his side have suffered a terrible start to the new campaign.
Sunderland were so close to grabbing what may have been a valuable point against West Ham, but they switched off from a corner in the last minute and Reid made them pay.

The Black Cats have failed to win any of their first nine Premier League matches, and currently sit at the foot of the table.
Sunderland are five points adrift of safety, and are in danger of being cut adrift unless they can turn their form around quickly.
