Danny Murphy has stated that Liverpool’s Jordan Hendeson and Manchester United’s Ander Herrera have a similar ‘desire’ to win games as he criticised the Old Trafford club for allowing the Spaniard to leave.

Manchester United confirmed on their official Twitter account in May that Herrera will part ways with the club when his contract expires at the end of this month.

Recently, Liverpool captain Henderson lifted the Champions League trophy with the Merseyside club as he has been an instrumental figure in their success under Jurgen Klopp.

Nonetheless, speaking to Jim White on TalkSport (03/06/2019 at 10:55 am), former Anfield favourite Murphy lauded the qualities of Henderson and compared him with United’s soon-to-be-departing midfield man.

“Henderson is a better passer than people think,” Murphy told TalkSport. “It’s more England fans than Liverpool fans [that are critical of him]. Liverpool fans now are on his side.

“He has got better in the last two seasons even more than before Stevie left then he came out of his shell a little bit. Towards the end of the season, he has been absolutely fantastic. I thought he played well in the final as well.

“He’s so disciplined and so athletic. I was listening to a Manchester United fan the other week talking about Herrera leaving, now I am not saying Herrera is the same as Henderson, but they have the same desire and will to win and they have let him go!”

Midfielder Henderson has improved drastically under the stewardship of Klopp, who recently won his first trophy at Anfield.

The Champions League win was Liverpool’s sixth European crown in their history as Klopp and his players will be hoping to build on that success next term.

The ultimate goal will no doubt be to try and win the Premier League title, but a fearsome looking Manchester City side stand in their way of glory.
