Dominic Solanke was a player in demand in the summer transfer window, with Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough reported to have been interested in the Liverpool striker.
According to The London Evening Standard, Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa, Rangers and Lyon all made approach for Solanke, but Liverpool turned them down.
The 21-year-old – who earns £25,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – is struggling to play for the Liverpool first team at the moment.
During the 2017-18 campaign, the striker made five starts and 16 substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Reds, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
The youngster has been linked with a move away from the Reds in the January transfer window, with The Chronicle reporting that Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez have asked about the situation of the England international at Anfield.
Former Liverpool and England international midfielder Danny Murphy has given his take on Solanke’s situation, and has suggested that former Chelsea prospect needs to leave Anfield.
Murphy told Bwin when asked if Solanke needs to move on: “Solanke may need to leave Liverpool if he is to progress.
“He needs to be playing football if he’s to improve, but he’s unlikely to get on the pitch at Liverpool.
“It would be a big decision to leave Liverpool because it’s one of the biggest clubs in the country, but it might be best for his career.
“He will probably look to go out on loan initially as I can’t see him jumping the queue ahead of Liverpool’s other options.”
