Danny Murphy has told Match of the Day, which was broadcast on BBC One on 31st January, that he believes Tottenham Hotspur have a lack of quality in reserve.

Spurs could only manage to pick up a 0-0 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light yesterday.

And Murphy feels that Tottenham have a lack of options who they can bring on to improve their chances of winning.

Tottenham are on a par with Chelsea in terms of their defence but I look at their bench and I don’t see enough game changers there,” Murphy, who used to play for Spurs, said.

“Chelsea can bring Pedro on, Liverpool can bring Sturridge on, but I look at Tottenham’s bench and I just wonder if they have enough.”

Tottenham did bring in Vincent Janssen as they searched for a goal against Sunderland last night, but it was not enough.

Spurs just could not find a way through David Moyes’ side’s defence, and created very little during the encounter.

Tottenham’s draw has moved them up the Premier League table, but they missed out on a chance to close the gap on league leaders Chelsea.

Murphy’s comments suggest that he thinks Spurs made an error in the January transfer window.

Pochettino opted not to make any signings last month, which could leave Spurs short of options for the remainder of the season.
