Danny Murphy has told Jim White on talkSPORT (broadcast on November 17th) that West Ham United should fancy their chances against Tottenham Hotspur when the two teams meet at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

On paper, the fixtures appears that it could be something of a formality for Mauricio Pochettino’s men. Spurs are the only unbeaten team left in the Premier League, while the Hammers are just one place and one point above the bottom three after a slow start to the campaign.

Nevertheless, Murphy admitted that he has not been convinced by Tottenham lately, and therefore believes that the game is harder to call than it would initially seem.

“They’ve got Tottenham away which actually, at the moment, isn’t the worst game in the world for me. Tottenham were great for half an hour against Arsenal, but other than that, they’ve not been tremendous, they’ve been steady,” he told Jim White on talkSPORT.

“I don’t think Spurs have won a game in seven which is a long old run,” he added.

“I think it’ll be tight, [with] the odd goal in it, maybe even a draw,” he would later conclude when reflecting on the potential result.

Though Murphy is somewhat optimistic for the Irons due to Spurs’ current form, it is fair to say that Slaven Bilic’s side would have also been slightly grateful for the international break after their two most recent results.

They were beaten fairly comfortably by Everton and then had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Stoke City at the London Stadium.

And while Tottenham have not won since their first match in October, the fact that they have maintained their unbeaten run during that spell will still give them a boost of confidence going into the clash.
