Former Everton manager Roberto Martinez has been touted for the vacant Leicester City post.

Danny Murphy has backed Roberto Martinez for the vacant managerial post at Leicester City and cited his ‘incredible’ first season at Everton, which he claims the fans have ‘forgotten’ about.
Sky Sports report that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez and Belgium’s Martinez are candidates to replace the recently sacked Claude Puel.
The Foxes, who won the Premier League title under Claudio Ranieri in 2016, were recently thumped 4-1 by Crystal Palace in the Premier League over the weekend.
Speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT (25/02/2019 at 11:10 am), Murphy made a number of claims about Martinez and stated why he thinks he could fit in at the King Power Stadium.
“Martinez, I like [being Leicester City manager],” Murphy told talkSPORT. “I thought his first year at Everton was incredible. I thought they were brilliant and played some great stuff. A lot of Everton fans have forgotten that first season.
“I thought Belgium were the best team at the World Cup. They should have won it really.”

During his career, Martinez has managed in the Premier League with Wigan, with whom he won the FA Cup prior to their relegation. He then moved to Merseyside to take the reigns at Everton.
During his time at Goodison Park, he helped the club to fifth in the Premier League table by playing expansive, forward-thinking and possession-based football.
But after three years, he was given the chop and has since taken over the national reigns at Belgium where he helped the Red Devils to the semi-finals of last summer’s World Cup.
Either way, whoever is appointed Leicester manager, they will have a number of highly-talented players to work with such as Harry Maguire, Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Ben Chilwell.
